Lakers Battle State-Ranked Holland Christian in Regular Season Finale The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team closed out its regular season Tuesday night with one of its best performances of the year, pushing fifth-ranked Holland Christian in a competitive four-set match (22-25, 15-25, 25-22, 16-25). Facing one of Division 2’s top programs, the Lakers rose to the challenge and delivered a complete team effort. After narrowly dropping the first set, Spring Lake responded with determination and took the third set 25-22, showing the energy and execution that have continued to improve throughout the season. Several Lakers made major contributions in the match: Brooke St. George led the way offensively with 9 kills and added 6 digs. Abbey Rogalski followed closely with 8 kills and 3 blocks. Lauren Meigs added 6 kills and 2 blocks. Ashlynn O’Donnell guided the attack with 20 assists and an ace, while Rileigh Fortuna tallied 9 assists. Defensively, Selah Kobylak anchored the back row with 13 digs, and Zoe Winters added 9 digs and an ace. Abbi Kozal contributed 2 key blocks at the net. Despite the loss, head coach praised the Lakers for playing their most complete match of the season, staying competitive in every set against one of the state’s elite teams. The performance highlighted the team’s growth and readiness heading into postseason play. Spring Lake (10-17-2, 2-10 OK-Blue) will now turn its focus to the MHSAA District 38 Tournament, opening play in the semifinal round on Wednesday, November 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Montague High School, where the Lakers will face the winner of Whitehall and Orchard View.
