Spring Lake Tennis Battles to 4-4 Draw with Mona Shores The Spring Lake varsity boys tennis team turned in a strong performance last week, earning a 4-4 tie against Muskegon Mona Shores in a competitive OK Conference matchup. The Lakers showed grit and determination throughout the lineup, highlighted by big wins in both singles and doubles play. At No. 3 singles, James Priddy delivered one of the most exciting victories of the day. After dropping the opening set, Priddy battled back to take the second in a tiebreak and then closed out the match with a 10-6 win in the deciding third-set tiebreak. Spring Lake also shined in doubles, winning three of the four flights. The No. 1 pairing of Nate Pawlak and Matthew Truszkowski showed resilience in a come-from-behind victory, rallying after losing the first set to secure a three-set win. At No. 3 doubles, Alex Richards and Adam Ridlington were dominant from start to finish, cruising to a straight-set victory. The No. 4 team of Joshua Ridlington and Jonah VanHoeven capped off the Lakers’ scoring with a strong two-set win of their own. “This was a great battle between two evenly matched teams,” said head coach. “Our doubles teams stepped up in a big way, and James’s comeback at No. 3 singles was outstanding. Matches like this really help build our confidence as we move forward.” The Lakers will carry the momentum from the draw into their upcoming conference matches.
