In a nail biting, state tournament atmosphere in front of a capacity crowd at Marsh Field, the Spring Lake Lakers and Fruitport Trojans battled to the end with Fruitport rallying with 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning for a 5-3 comeback victory. The Lakers scored first when Jaden Core doubled and scored on an RBI ground out by Max Feltner to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 4th. Fruitport came right back tying the game with a run in the top of the 5th. Spring Lake then struck for two more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Dayton Clark walked, Gabe Trask's sacrifice bunt was mishandled and then Jaden Core laid down a bunt single to load the bases with nobody out. Max Feltner got another RBI on a Fielders choice and Owen Smies hit a sacrifice fly and Spring Lake entered the top of the 7th with a 3-1 lead. That's when the Trojans rallied scoring four times and then retired Spring Lake in the bottom of the 7th for the victory. Maddux Kipling started the game for Spring Lake pitching 4 innings allowing 1 hit and no runs while striking out 6. Oliver Smies suffered the loss in relief. Spring Lake pitching had a very uncharacteristic 8 walks in the game. Jaden Core had both of Spring Lakes hits and Max Feltner had 2 RBI's.
