The Spring Lake Lakers traveled along ways to Petoskey, but won their second straight Regional Championship with a 4-3 eight inning walk-off against the Sparta Spartans. With a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jaden Core singled with one out, stole second base and then scored on an Oliver Smies base hit for the game winning RBI and a Regional Championship! Sparta threatened numerous times throughout the game, but Spring Lake starter, Zane Stahl (8-2), continually got big out after big out stranding the Spartan base runners. Stahl threw seven innings striking out 8 and walking one in a no decision. Oliver Smies picked up the win pitching the eighth inning and striking out three. Smies and Stahl led the Laker offense with three hits for Smies and two for Stahl. The Spring Lake defensive play of the game came in the top of the seventh when Sparta had runners on first and second with one out, and Laker third baseman, Will May fielded a hard hit ball stepped on third for the force out then fired a throw to first baseman Maddux Kipling who made a huge scoop to complete the inning ending double play and Sparta's last threat of the game.
