Varsity vs Holland Christian Schools (35 - 46) Loss Spring Lake battled but came up short Friday night, falling to Holland Christian 46-35 in a matchup featuring two teams atop the OK Black standings. The Lakers came out strong, trading punches early and edging ahead 10-9 at the end of a hard-fought first quarter. Holland Christian responded late in the second, putting together a run to take a 21-16 lead into halftime. The turning point came in the third quarter, when Holland Christian outscored Spring Lake 15-8. Despite a strong defensive effort and continued fight from the Lakers, the third quarter surge proved to be too much to overcome. Spring Lake won the fourth quarter 11-10, but the earlier deficit held as the Lakers dropped the contest by an 11-point margin. Kloe George led Spring Lake with 11 points. Alex Botbyl and Tessa Weber each added six, while Addy Harris, Peyton Hein, and Lexi Baker finished with 4 points a piece. The loss marks Spring Lake's third loss of the season. While disappointed with the outcome, the Lakers know there is plenty of basketball left to be played and several big games ahead. They'll look to respond in their next matchup next week against Zeeland East.
